Tech inspector 1 mentioned a book on hotrodding volkswagon engines. I recall a book by a guy named John Muir. How to keep your Volkswagen alive for the complete idiot (nothing personal). While the book had zero "hotrodding" tips that I can recall, it was filled with good, practical, no-nonsense first-hand experienced-based knowledge. Not to mention a great amount of humor. I'm not offering to send it to you, but I can solidly recommend it as a roots-level VW volume. Very, very practical when anything goes wrong out there on the road. I think over half of the folks who owned VWs in the late 60s/early 70s owned this book. And it's humous enough to read from cover to cover and feel entertained in the process.
