casting number

If you had casting number it would help. What year is the vortec? Alot of guys use vortec heads on older blocks. haven't heard non vortecs on a vortec though. Don't see why it wouldn't work. I can tell you if for give me casting number off of it.

The block (as long as it's a Gen I) will accept the '94 TBI heads.

The TBI cam might be enough different than the Vortec ('96-up) engine's roller cam that the original TBI ECM will not be able to compensate for it. If that's the case, you'll need to swap the cams. Hopefully the TBI engine had a OEM roller.

Be aware some truck/SUV engines were designated "Vortec" but were not THE '96- up Vortec engine that is commonly referred to.
