Vortec Exhaust Ports
Would any happen to know the exhaust port shape on the ZZ4 350 vortec heads off the top of their head (no pun intended....man i'm so funny
 ) ?One more question, though not related to this engine section, or the question above...Would anyone happen to know a good way to clean the "engine turned" dash bezel on the 70-81 trans ams. I'm installing new gauges and would like to clean it up if possible...I tried soap, windex, googone but nothing seems to get rid of the "old age" look and shine it up. I'd rather not sand on it since it would mess up the engine turned design. Thank in advance

the vortec heads have pretty much the basic small block chevy exhaust ports, you can go to this site to see them.

ZZ4 heads have D-shaped exhaust ports, with the flat sides on the bottom.

The ZZ4 and Vortec heads are two different styles of heads. The ZZ4/L98 head uses a standard intake bolt pattern. I just posted Pics of a L98 head in my Album. Dan

Ok I just looked it up, i beleive the Goodwrench "350 HO" crate motor has vortec heads ZZ4 does not...correct me if I'm wrong

I detail cars as a part time job, and my '74 Firebird was my biggest challenge. I ended up just cleaning the dash real well with a vinyl/plastic cleaner, and then used a vinyl/plastic protectant wiped on, and let it set. The paint on the rings absorbed a lot, until it had a glossy appearance. Then I just wiped it on evenly to keep it protected.
