Vortec Head and Intake Gaskets

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone give some advice for which head and intake gaskets to use for vortec heads? Could anyone give a specific part #? I read in Chevy High Performance that there are some pretty good new gaskekts out there to use such as the MLS gaskets? Just looking for some good quality gaskets. Thanks for any input.

Almost any small block chevy head gasket will work, as there interchangeable, there was nothing special about the gaskets the vortecs recieved. However if I were using flat top pistons and did the mock up to check how far down the in hole the piston was, I would use a gasket that gave me the desired quench distance. As for the intake gaskets, I would use the fel pro intake gasket for vortec heads, we used them years ago and they worked nicely. It`s always a good idea to go back and check the bolt torque on the intake when vortec heads are used, being there`s only 8 bolts holding it down.

A good head gasket would be the Fel-Pro part #1003. A second choice would be the #501SD. My third choice would be the #7733PT2. Fel-Pro also has an improved intake gaskt for the Vor-Tec, part # Ms98000T (comes with valve cover gaskets also). Make sure the intake bolts are torqued properly.
