Red face Vortec Heads Valve Clearence

while reading an article in chevy hi performance magazine on the medium rare mouse it lists as an option to use a crane powermax 272-H but mentions nothing about head work. the powermax carries a gross lift of .454/.480 well above suggested lift on the heads. any info on this will be appreciated since i am currently building this motor.

According to Scoggin Dickey, you just need to upgrade the springs. They have a spring upgrade that will allow for .525" lift

i don't know for sure, but i don't see how you can increase your rocker travel by changing springs. I would check to see if you have to machine your valve guides to allow for clearance for larger cam.

Upgrade springs are thinner so they don't bind?
