Vortec intake change...

Well I finaly decided to do a change... I have a set of Vortec`s on a 355 cui (.030 over 350) and am running a performer RPM clone cam (from Summit). These heads were modded to accept the older style bolt pattern because I had got these new in the box long before even GM came out with the carb type intake for them... I was using a very nicely port matched Team G intake and with a 4200 lb truck w/3.73 rear gears and 28" tall slicks was running 13.90`s in the 1/4 mile...

Now the change... I have had a Vortec Eliminator manifold sitting brand new in the box for some time and last night switched out the intakes... I have instantly noticed it has alot more torque in the mid-range and upper end... Part throttle torque is way up... I will be going to track again Saturday night to do some more testing...

I wonder just how much of a difference this newer intake might make...? Its a much taller single plane than the Team G and I also included my 1" spacer that I had with the Team G. Even with my old 69 truck the air breather a large diameter K & N setup just barely clears the hood... Looks like a darn tunnel ram its so tall...

Opinions on what it might do...?

Well the results are... It dropped my 1/4 mile times by almost 2 tenths and almost 2 mph also with possibly more but destroyed my rearend last night... It also dropped my 60` times from 2.0`s to 1.9`s (not bad for a 4200lb truck...?) Also no other changes were done and the timing settings were exactly the same... Have to conclude the Vortec Eliminator is the best intake manifold for the Vortec heads for max torque and HP...
