Vortec valve cover gasket ?

Has anyone had the fun experience of putting on the blue rubber gaskets on vortec heads? How did you do it? What other gaskets sre available or can I just use the old kind. I need to glue it to the cover to get it on.

unless you have a aftermarket head, you`ll know a Vortec head is a center bolt valve cover so using the old paremeter style doesn`t work. If you have centerbolt valve covers flip it over, you`ll see where the the cover has a groove for the gasket, you just press it in.

My experience is that if it happens to be an aftermarket valve cover you will fight that MFer forever. The Chinese stuff looks good but is crap.

I hear that!!!!!! Greg did you glue the gasket to the cover or what?
I tried to glue it with 3M yellow adhesive last night and it will not stick
to the gasket.
And yes aftermarket valve cover.

I threw the chinese one away and got a GM one. Its like that little rib that should keep it from popping out of groove isnt wide enough.

I put a small dab of 3M yellow adhesive on the corners and it held.
