vortex heads

Hi, I'm Tom.
I bought a 1986 chev crew cab with a 5.7 liter engine, with 89000 mi. The engine smokes a little only on crankup (valve guide seals) and the lifters are making noise. I was thinking of replacing with vortex heads. Will this give me more power and fuel efficiency? Will I need to replace the 4 bbl. intake?
Thank You

You will get more power, not sure about fuel efficiency. You will have to replace your intake manifold, and your valve covers if they are the type that bolt on around the perimeter on the flange. The "VORTEC" heads require center-bolt valve covers. Also, I don't beleive you will be able to use your stock rocker arms, but i may be wrong about that.

Self-aligning rockers are required.
