VSS to cable speedo on 700R4

Does anyone sell a kit to use the VSS with older cars that had a cable driven spedo? Or does anyone sell or have an output shaft, speedo housing and gear I could use in this one?

The rest of my 700s are 4x4 transmissions so they have the speedo on the transfer case. I got this one as a core and I plan to use it in my 70 GTO, but it has the vehicle speed sensor in it. The shops around here dont have any 2wd transmissions of this vintage, everyone threw them out years ago. Junkyards are no dice either, nobody has old 700s, its all 4L60E.

I found both the housing and driven gear on eBay, but I need to know what tooth count the driven gear needs to be. I am in the same quandry as you. Here is the seller that has both the housing and the gears. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT I am waiting on a call back from the company to tell me what gear I need to order. When I find out, I'll come back and let you know...Allan

I found this page in my searches, it has a chart to figure out what gears you need. Just so happens the ones I need are hardest to find.

Summit has some of the gears, the hard part is finding the housing.

The seller has responded to say that it depends on the drive gear. That is a good site that you posted. I believe I can figure this out now. The housings that the seller that I posted the link to has plastic housings for $19.95 , or you can pay $72.00 for the aluminum ones. I am going to go pull a tail shaft housing.

My Parts Are Ordered !

Between the two web stores, I was able to order everything that I needed. When I removed the tailshaft housing, I found a trigger wheel instead of a gear. So I ordered the drive gear, clip, driven gear and housing retainer from one place and a plastic housing from the other. Should be good to go. :-) ..Allan
