i have an 84 vw rabbit cis fuel injection, i have got gas in the crank case and antifreeze smells of gas. any ideas?

hmm, cracked block, blown head gasket, bad rings, some combo of the above...

I think your car has an aluminum head. If it has gotten too hot from running without proper water cirulation or whatever it is very possible that it has warped the head or if you are lucky, just blown a head gasket. Do a compression check and look for one or more cylinders that are a lot lower than the rest. If you find this, you have one of the two above problems. A machine shop can tell you if the head is warped and if it is can mill it down to straighten it. They can supply a thicker gasket as well.
