Wanna See My Woodie?

No, not that Woodie....

Here are some pics of a 47 Chrysler Town&Country "Woodie" Convertible that I'm presently restoring. It is a customer's car that I am restoring in my shop. Yeah, I know, it's not a Rod, but it's still a pretty cool old car that you don't see everyday.....

There are more in my "Gallery" if you're interested

There is a guy just a few miles west of here that has a green one. Real sweet. His dad had bought it new in the little town that it is in. My wife and I talked to him for quite awhile at a car show last summer. He has restored the car to new condition also.

Great looking start! Are you doing the wood work yourself or contracting it out? Steaming the wood and molding it is a major job.

No, I subletted the woodwork, a bit beyond my capabilities! I'm more of a "metal" guy.

A hemi would be cool, but I'd just hate to see all that nice wood turn to splinters when the frame twists.

Hmmmm.....looks like the pic site is down for now, should be back later.....

The car is being restored to exacting original specs with no modifications. Although it's a cool car I don't think it would qualify as a Hot Rod......"Cool Ride", yes, but not "Hot Rod".

Great job of preserving the past. There are just some projects that do not need to be rodded and if it has that much wood, it sure qualifies in my book. Thanks for sharing with us.

After I thought about akm's question for awhile I realized he might be asking why I am NOT building it to be a Rod.

I didn't mean to mislead anyone on this, but I should have stated that this is a car that I am restoring for a customer in my shop. It's not my car, it's a customer's car. He wants it original, he writes the checks!

Stitch (and others), I didn't mean to mislead anyone into thinking that all those cars in the gallery are mine. The 4 Fords are mine, but all the rest are customer's cars that I have restored in my shop.

I have edited to descriptions of the pictures to reflect this.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

no, you were right the first time.
i just consider a nice old classic of any make, a rod.
call me crazy, but it doesn't have to be fast, to be a rod.
