Slap a set of RHS Vortec heads on it, Edelbrock performer vortec intake,
A cam with around .224 duration @ .050, double roller timing chain.
That`ll easily meet your goals and then some.

The 350 Performer package is something to be proud of. Add a performer cam .420/.442" lift, and the performer intake on a 8.5:1 350, things happen. Burnouts , pulling acceleration increase, even with 2.76 gears from idle to 4500 rpm. 50* of overlap offer a noticeable idle stampeed. One of the best road cams ever ground. Not for racing , but it makes a quick, reliable, daily driver.

cam $48
intake $40
springs $35
gaskets $25

might go 290-300hp, and makes all the cool noises. burnouts, secondary open forced downshifts, idle purr, and a economic cruise.

Get on craigslist and buy a set of vortec heads.

Buy this cam http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...x?csid=84&sb=2

use flat top pistons, 86 octane gas, and make an easy 310 hp with a cheap factory shortblock.

buy a used 1996 to 1998 350 vortec roller cam engine (in good shape, 275hp stock), install a rpm intake, 750 cfm 3310 holley, and a set of headers. should make 300hp. If you still have some cash after that, then change to a mild cam (212 to 218 degrees at 0.050").

heck yeah, im with spinn, i have a 350 std bore with flattops "345np's", with x-rods or "pink" rods as they say, a performer cam 420"/442" lift, a set of double humpers "461's", a perfomer intake, and the perfomer 600 carb, 15/8's dynomax headers through 21/2 pipes, lets just say with 2:14 gears, it will leave 75ft of single wheel rubber, and thats not power brakeing ether!!!
