want a '39 column in my '34 Ford

I need someone to walk me through the process of putting my '39 Ford column into my '34 Ford Coupe. I need to know what modifications are needed to cut and connect the shaft to my Vega cross steering setup, etc. How to cap off the end after shortening? Will the '39 locking mechanism be a problem? Your ideas, suggestions and experience is appreciated.
