want to know the difference

whats the difference in the 406 sbc with 5.7 rods an one 6 in rods

.3" difference in the pin location in the piston, ala different pistons and a different rod/stroke ratio.

Then, there's the issue of the 6" rod putting the wrist pin up into the same area as the oil ring. I don't care for more complexity to support the rings, so I would use a 5.700" rod in a 383/388 build. Keep it simple.

As Ron Iskenderian says in the tutorial, change rod length ONLY when you have exhausted every other avenue in your quest for power.
