Wanted to say THANK YOU, pics included.
 
I wanted to thank everyone that offerd a newbie some advice. You'all really saved me here, I spend months reading old post and in the knowledge base.

I haven't decided on what to do about the door. Color sand? block down and complewtly reshoot?

Also i have just alittle trash in the paint that fell after spraying, nothing terrible. I just need to buff it out.

If anyone has any tips on buffing out a little trash let me know. I was thingk sand with 1200 and then buff.

It'a lot of custom work with alot of items from 3 decades of Jeeps all roled into one rig.

Real nice job you have done there thats quite a tricky paint job for a novice

congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!!


on the wet sanding the runs start with 1200 grit wet with a block and level the runs then with 1500 then 2000 grit and then start buffing

Congrats, give yourself a pat on the back.

I would wear proper footware in the garage. Not only is it easy enough to drop something on your feet while working in a garage, when your spraying products, especially with isocyanates, you want all exposed skin covered. Besides isos being able to enter by breathing them in, The skin will absorb them, and they are attracted towards moisture (cover your eyes too) .

I like leveling most of the run by scraping with a razor blade. The method has been mentioned in past threads. And finish up leveling with a hard block. But you will want to allow those runs a chance to cure up a bit, or else you could tear off the clear at the heads of the runs if its still too soft.

I'm going to wait a week before I try any wet sanding. I need a break. I have been working on this thing almost non stop for 3 months now.

I'm very happy with the paint. I was very surprised that I was able to get the metallic down with out splotchyness our tiger stripes.

Hey J thats pretty nice work there! I am also a Newbe that is attemting the very same thing and I am also relying on the Old Deadbodyman to help me through. All i can say if it comes out anything like your Jeep i will be very pleased! Nice Job!

Well I have been talking to other's about what to do and since I can't seem to get anyone to give me the right time the day I figure why the hell not! I am going to finish reassembling the car tape it off and go for it!!

Looks pretty good, I like the color. i would paint in my garage also but don't want neighbors to complain.
