Warning!!

i think, this is the right place to tell the community, that Ive been cheated by a company specialized in delivering parts for Hot-Rodders. In december 2006 I ordered a disc-brake conversion Kit for my corvette from HOTRODSUSA imn Washougal/Washington. Trusting in the appearence of the company i paid nearly 3000$ in advance (they refused to be paid by VISA, because of the costs...I should have heard the bells...) To keep it short, in april I received a part of the kit , but the rest is missing, no mails are answered, Im shure i will never see the missing parts, so this is NO recommendation for this company.Be aware!!!

I am sorry to hear about your problems.

Did you buy your kit through ebay? Have you tried to contact these guys by phone?

If you are getting nowhere you should post your problems in the "Company Reviews" section on this site (link at the top of the page). That way other rodders who check out the reviews will know about your problems with this company.

That place is scary, it appeasr to be a website with a big collection of pictures from manufacturers websites. They show no location, and some of the things they say are just B.S.

check out this page:
http://www.hotrodheaven.com/tech/chassis/chassis2.htm

scroll down to where it says : "Because of trade secrets we did not show our boxing, suspension and cross member jigs."

Un believable.

if I were you I'd call the company who makes the kit you supposedly bought and ask the status of the order, the status of the dealer, then if there is no reasonable explantion, see about contacting the state of Washington's Attorney general and inquire about a case of mail fraud.

You could also contact some of the companies that are listed as hotrodusa's suppliers and ask them if they are truly dealers, or just scammers.

later, mikey

This kind of information is extremely valuable for foreigners like me.

To buy from stores located half way around the world is a question of trust. The buyer (me) will always be the weakest part in transactions like that. To take my money and send the wrong stuff, or don't send the stuff at all is an easy thing to do for bad guys.
Later they just blame the shipping company, the CC company, or they simply just dont answer mails. When called up by phone they speak like the foreign customer is a child or some kind of a psyciatric case.

Luckily I haven't experienced things like that in person yet, because I'm careful and choose who to deal with after checking them out.

I would believe that a seller who treat small, foreigner customers well will be treating US customer well too, so here's my "nice-guys-list":
-Summit Racing.
-Horton Hot Rod Products (Canada)
-Car Shop.inc, Moline IL
-Fatrodders Rod Store, Ebay.
-Whiteperformance1, Ebay.
-Robertsons Auto Salvage, MA.
-Fat Man Fabrications, NC.
-Speedway Motors.
-Dick Spadaro Early Ford Reproductions, NY

Thank You all, guys, for your replies. As STALEG wrote, if you are thousend of miles away, you have to trust . Some years ago, I ordered parts for a Mustang , internet didn`t yet exist, via letters and was never disappointed. Nowadays ,morals have changed, it seems... Again, thank you all and greets from Austria (we have cangaroos only in zoos..)

I have purchased many items from HOTRODUSA thru eBay with no problems over the past seven years. Dean Oshiro is the owner and you should be able to call him at the toll free number listed in his ads on eBay or his website.
