Warren Buffett has some great ideas to reform congress.

I saw this on Facebook this morning and it sounds pretty good to me.

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed
around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2012

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

If you agree, pass it on. If not, delete.
You are one of my 20+ - Please keep it going, and thanks

Half true, half not. Warren stated the first paragraph, the rest has been added as time went by. He made a statement about ending the deficit, the rest was added by others. All in all, not a bad idea.

They are out of control and we are destined to suffer for it as long as there is a Congress. Nothing short of total Political reform will do ANY good. They have to lie and make false promises to get there so why should they change once they are there?

I like the idea of cutting all the perks that Congress gets that the average American does not as stated above, furthermore their salaries should be based on the average American income who they are supposed to represent.Pay increases for Congress? it should be the same as COLA that Seniors get, maybe if they knew what it is like to be Joe Average they would know what a real budget is all about.Of course we all know this pipe dream would never come to pass as the sheeple keep sending the same idiots back over and over again the talk about term limits and it is just that, talk and zero action.

Chances are?

I didn't graduate top of the class. But, doesn't congress and the reps have to vote on this too. I think it would have a hard time passing. Remember Justice really means JUST US!

I don't know why we even pay those guys! They pass laws that increase our debt... ignore past successful methods of increasing business, and do the opposite... want to raise taxes instead of changing their behaviors... vote themselves health and retirement programs better than ours... squader our money on deadbeats and non-citizens... and line their pockets while we go broke!

Aren't they supposed to work for us... and not the other way around???????????

funny how a day after Obama urges congress to raise the debt ceiling he talks about the deficit. Politicians are worse than lawyers cause a lawyer will at least lie in your behalf after taking your money, politicians will take everyone's money and lie to them, not in their behalf.

Democracy is a good system, filled with bad people (wish I knew who said that but it is a hard quote for me to forget). Used to be opposing sides could get together and work something out, each giving and taking to get there. Now, each side wants everything they ask for and there is no room for compromise. Winning is more important than everything else.

Warren is just another sympton. I wouldn't hit a dog in the ***** with him.

I think education is great. I can't say the public system is the best but it's there and has helped millions of people.
