Water pump bypass, vortec heads

I've been scouring over old posts all day, looking for any additional information that may explain a coolant leak in my SBC.

I'm running a 1970 3970010 block with SDPC vortec heads and a standard rotation milodon water pump.

The vortec heads do not have a provision for the water pump bypass circuit that comes from the passenger side of the water pump. the gallery in the engine block from the water pump bypass ends at the cylinder head.

It's okay to run with this setup, correct?

I'm just being paranoid at this point, I'm short on sleep and keep second guessing my setup.

thanks in advance

Also, I'm running with a heater delete... do I need to install a nipple in the heater outlet on the water pump, and plumb this to the bypass inlet on the intake manifold?

I think I'm starting to go crazy...

Drill 3 small holes in the thermostat, about 1/16. this will act as your bypass.
