Exclamation water pump question

i have an old(78) chevy 350 that i am swapping out and i got the new engine(long block) and i was wondering if i should use the old water pump. it was a bit rusted on the outside so i took car of that and the inside that i could see had some rust and i took care of that as well. However, if the opening had rust it is likely there is rust in places i cant see, so should i get a new one or take the back off and try to clean it out from there.
Thanks

Tissue

Buy a new one! They aren't that expensive. Get a high performance one, they move alot more water/antifreeze. The aluminum ones are worth the money.
