water separators?

I'm painting my truck soon and need to buy a good water separator. My question is can I use something like a Devilbiss CT30 for my air tools as well? Or is this something that is only used for spraying? It seems costly to replace the filters. Also what is a good filter for home use? I do very little spraying in a year.

IMO the biggest improvement in water control is raising the delivery line to the highest point in your shop. Install a drain at the point where it starts to go up, then install a water separator and drain at your hose connection.

My set up

I have my compressor in the second story of the gargae. Then from there I drop one out of the ceiling to a hose reel. the second one goes down the wall and has a trap. That's where I would like to install the separator.
