in the 2001 GM PERFORMANCE PARTS CAT. it says they used the alum. pump #12496652 for the zz4 and the zz430,then later when you come to the water pump section it instead has a # 12495826 listed for both but i've got to tell you that i could have sworn that i remember reading somewhere that they used the victor series edelbrock unit.it also says it is the long leg design.
i have another book called SMALL BLOCK CHEVY PERFORMANCE BY DAVE EMANUEL,HP BOOKS,in it they tell all about winston cup engines and do a flow study on the sbc alum. pump and the stage 3&4 stewart alum.race pumps.i know these are good cause i had a terrible problem with a 406 sbc a large dual 1" row ,griffin rad. and a stewart stage 2 pump did the trick.given the choice i would go with the stage 3 next time.anyway,the goodwrench alum. pump has excellant gpm. #'scompare to the two stewart pumps they are actually very slightly better.but the stewart's flow 3's from side to side are even and the goodwrenches aren't.so yes the goodwrench is a good pump but not as good as stewarts.now this goodwrench pump is probably not the same as the 12496652 or the 12495826.i'm sure that there is a difference in price.my stage 2 stewart this spring was 179.00.but these pumps are hard to beat when you need the performance that they put out.i would not be afraid to use the edelbrock.i know that the cup cars are using them now.the flow test done above were done with a 5/8's restrictor orifice and180 degree water at 20 psi.the 160degree thermostat or the 5/8's restrictor is what i use currently the latter.hope this helps you.
