Weiand 142 on 350 Vortec?

Ok so my brother bought a stock 350 vortec with low miles and we rebuilt it with new rings and bearings, the heads were reworked with 2.02s/1.60s, zz4 cam, 1.6 roller rockers, msd ignition, air gap etc. It runs and works very well but he wants more power out of his car now. He wants to put a 142 on it. Will this work good on this engine or is it too much compression? It is just a good driving 55 chevy, not a race car. What is a good carb for this setup with a 4-speed manual and a 3.42 rear? Thanks.

How much compression does the engine have? The 142 works great on the 350. I put one on a 9.7:1 350 with 5 psi boost. I did have to mix race gas because I had higher than recommended compression but the difference it made was huge.

I think it would be 9.4:1 because it has the stock pistons. I just realized the Vortec kit is WAY more money than for old style heads!

If it were me I'd do it. Even if it meant bringing the compression down a little to get it to run on 92. The difference a supercharger makes is huge. Plus it's got the wow factor that N/A engines don't have and sounds awesome under heavy acceleration too.

I like this idea ... go to the Weiand web site and down load the installation procedure it will tell you all you need to know .. answers the compression question nicely ........... go to the source .
