Helllooooo and Merry Christmas.
Got a possible friendly debate question. My Gremlin with me weighs an estimated 2700lbs or so. I have a 2 speed glide and will be getting a 25-3200 convertor. The gearing is 4.56's and I run Mickey Thompson tires that are less than good grabbing. Question? If I build a 375-425 horse engine for the street, could I get away with running a little higher rise single plane intake over a lower intake with the lighter weight of my car and gearing? My thoughts are that with an intake and cam matched for mid to higher rpm's, I will have less traction problems and wont need the lower rpm's due to the light weight? What ya think?,HG

Since you say you will be running this vehicle on the street; I'd suggest you use an Edelbrock Performer RPM (dual plane high rise) or if you don't mind spending the extra bucks, an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap (basically the same intake as the RPM with the addition of an air space under the runners and carb base).
I don't think you would be satisfied running any single plane intake for street use due to the RPM range you will be in when driving in traffic in town (unless you drive in first or second gear all the time). |

Yep the Edelbrock performer RPM is a good intake, so is the airgap.

#3 is the obvious choice, but it don't make a car run any better.
I think intake choice has a whole lot to do with many other factors, gears, trans, carb, cam etc. My 55 chevy had 3.34 posi, holley 780, GM 181 cam, and a Torker single plane manifiold. Worked great, but I think if it was an auto trans, it would have been a dog. |

I would also suggest you use an Edelbrock Performer RPM (dual plane high rise) They are pretty damn good. Also it depends on what RPM you will be running it at. Single plains are great for high RPM engines

It is a little hard without knowing exactly what cam you are going to use, but I would not go with a single plane unless you are running at least a 3500 stall. I would go with a performer RPM air gap.

I know that this thread is a year old, so I won't mention that you are planning on using a blower now.....

Intake
A good alternative would be a Weiand Stealth.
