weird exhaust idea(would this work?)
Would it be beneficial to put a small electric fan in an exhaust system that would blow in the direction of the tailpipe? (It would be similar to the "tornado" product that goes into the intake tubing right behind the air filter). The fan would have to be the same diameter as the exhaust tubing. Has anything like this ever been tested? Wouldn't it help create vacuum that would pull the exhaust gases out of the chambers better? Any ideas or input? just a weird though that came across
Thanks, Brian |
I would see no benefit with the electric fans in the exhaust. It is much harder to get enough air in than out. Besides the exhaust temps would cook a electric fan in no time. Just my .02

Dear god... sounds like those exhaust tip spinners all over again  I seriously doubt you would get any benefits from that, if anything, it would obstruct the exhaust.

well if the fan was powerfull enough then yes it could have a big effect on the performance but I doubt that a fan that large could be fit in a even 3" pipe. I say it would have an effect on the performance because any book you read on testing EGR's say not to have the vehicle hooked up to a vacume type exhaust evacuation system because it pulls the exhaust gas out faster than the EGR can take it. shure you could get yourself a high watt 12v inverter and 2 thrift store canister vacumes and then jam the ends in the tail pipes, and I'm shure you would see some sort of a diffrence but the extra drag on the alt might not make it so much. would be 1 heck of a contraption and a conversation peice for anyone who saw it.
