My 35 tudor ford sedan has a nova front clip grafted on. When I pulled the body off, I found that it is not perpendicular with the body. Its about one inch short on one side. I guess that's what I get for buying the shell someone else already botched up. The old ford frame is slid in side the nova neatly and welded on the exposed edge. I'm thinking I can either grind off the old weld or get someone who is much better with a torch than me to take away most of the old weld. If i can seperate the two, I can square the nova clip with the 35 frame and everything would be hunky dory. Anyone out there have any better suggestion or advice? I feel this is my only hope for saving the frame.

I will say this much. If the guy could not get the clip even on straight....throw the frame away or cut the clip off and start fresh. The measuring and welding is the easy part of the clip. To do a clip properly it must have a body on the car...with front fender.Look at the wheels in the wheel opening with the clip tacked. now blow it a part and finish weld it. Did you check to see if the track width was ok?? I really think its to wide for a 35 drum brakes are a little narrow but if you change to disc's its wider.(i could be wrong on this one cause i dont do clips anymore) get the old tape measure out..start fresh.

Problem cured. I took Phat's advice and removed the clip. I did not cut it off however. I merely took my air cut off tool and cut off the old weld, loosened the clip up and squared it with the old ford frame. It is now within 1/8th of an inch from any measurement point. Now I will re-weld and shouldn't be any problem. I reinstalled the fron fenders and running boards on the frame and everything is centered. Life is now good again. Thanks Phat.

Hey one more thing if you got that far.Get the rear end set to the height you need it. Now check the lower control arms to the ground...are they level(front to rear,tipped back a degree or so is ok but forward is a no no) Also the take the springs out and put a piece of threaded rod were the shocks go or weld straps on the lower a-frame to frame with the lower a-frame level side to side( center of ball joint lower than the inner pivot for the a-frame) That will tell you if the clip is on to low or to high for you . Phat is giving you good information, but I feel that the clip is too wide generally. If you put disc brakes on, this will increase the width 1 1/2". Next, you will be buying FatMan Fabrications narrowed A arms.
