Welded rear differential???

How reliable is having a welded differential or a mini spool in a daily driven street car? Has anybody done this? Has there been any serious problems with anybody who has tried this? Thanks.

Funny it seems like we just did this but here goes again....BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD !!!
Without the ability to "rachet" on the outside when going around corners you will be basically dragging one tire. You will tear up both sides but the left side will probably go first. And if you hit some moisture while going around a corner, hang on! Chances are you will spin out.
Locked spools are for drag racing only. Period...
Other side of the coin, my buddies 65 stang with a drag built 351, full cage..etc, etc, etc was loads of fun late saturday nights with its welded spool and all sideways through its first 3 gears. STUPID STUPD STUPID!

When you do your search. pay extra attention to the stories from BOBCRMAN !! If I remember right, there was a crash and something about operating an unsafe vehicle and something about insurance NOT paying for any damages!!!

This question coming from a member that has been a member since April of 2002.

Must not have been looking around lately.

Since this post topic has been discussed to death and a decent search will find the same answer written many times over I am closing this thread for a self explanatory reason.
