which welder, if any?

Hi

i am completely new to welding, (although i have done some soldering, but that doesnt really count)

and i would like to know what the best route is to go for a welder?

it will be used for bodywork, mostly just fixing panels, but a bit of structural

otherwise i could go the gettingsombodyelsetodoit route

cheers

You know for a good all around mig welder for a home shop I would choose the new Miller 180 amp Millermatic Autoset. You can find them on Ebay for around $900 I think by quite a few company's.

A MIG welder is no more dangerous than a traditional welder, in fact it is actually less dangerous as far as fumes are concerned. Traditional welding emits all sorts of stuff you should not be breathing. You cannot use a MIG in windy conditions because the wind will blow the shielding gas away from your work.

this will be the one i will be getting in a couple of weeks
passport plus
ebay will be cheaper of coarse
can do aluminum with optional spool gun if you want to add later

this would be my second choice
millermatic 211 with autoset
ebay cheaper
can do aluminum with optional spool gun if you want to add later
The autoset sound like a pretty cool thing for a welder

both can do 120 volt or 240 volt

also if you get the 211 before the 31, you can send off for free welder cart
