You've already made it clear that you want to perform this to test out it's "drifting capabilities" which to me amounts to you wanting to jerk around on the street with all those guys in the little hatchback Nissans. If you're going to be exclusively driving the vehicle at events, then by all means, weld it and don't drive it on the street until you have a LSD.
I like those little hatchback nissans. I'm actually trying to buy one in march as a daily since the firebird is a thirsty pig. If i do get it then i won't need to weld the fbird. I know a bunch of guys who run welded on the street without complaint. I never asked for anyone's opinion as to whether it's good or bad or will turn my car into a spinning ball of destruction.

Sometimes it's the questions you don't want to know the answers to that are the most important. I'm pretty sure no one here wants to see you bite it, let alone take some innocent with you.

You're asking the opinion of guys running a welded diff in an IRS of a completely different era, built by a completely different manufacturer, created for the purpose of being used under completely different driving circumstances, that's been fail-tested by many idiots before it was widely known that you could get away with it. I'm telling you right now you're probably going to spit an axle midspin in that f-body if you weld the diff and try to be the smokey and the bandit equivalent of supreme japanese doriftu kingu.

Not advertiseing, own a rear end shop,I can give you the # of a guy here in town that ripped the 1/4 panel off when he broke an axle with a spool on the street in his org.427 Baldwin Motion '69 Camaro, then tagged a t-pole,only cast about 18000.00 to fix it....I told him not to do it,....you've been told.
