Welding spring pads on straight axle

I picked up a Speedway semi-elliptical straight axle and the spring pads need to be welded on. Any dangers to warping this axle when I do? How should I brace it if need be? I have a tig and stick welder. Plan to use the tig.

Weld in stitches, 1/2" -3/4" long and letting the part cool inbetween welds. Use the TIG, clamp the part down if you can, and you'll keep warpage down to a minimum. You can straighten it back out if you need to with a shop press.

Later, mikey

Hopefully the alignment of the axle is correct before you start welding..Install the axle under the car..get the spring mounts tacked to the chassis and then tack the perches to the axle..Once you are happy with the fitment then weld everything solid..the axle perches govern castor on those..
