Welding up spider gears

Would welding up the spider gears to make a posi rear be as good as installing a kit???? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Pac-Man you should do a search on this topic. I can tell you, that welding the gears is a NO-NO, very dangerous, and not recommended. It is nothing like installing a "real" posi. Do a little research and you will see/hear a lot of horror stories about the outcome of welding gears.

offroad or on-road? Offroad I have done this in mud racing application for years with very good results! on road I would do it the right way. Just my 2cents.

Good idea, searching the forums. We get a lot of newer members in here that seem to ignore the search function.

Since this is a subject on a method we do not as a rule condone for any street driven vehicles, I am closing this thread.

Hopefully others will try and search for their answers first like you ended up doing, many things here at Hotrodders have been discussed to death.
