Well, the Gran Sport is finally off to get painted.
Well, I mentioned how a few days before turning 50 last month I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about these two projects in my garage that have gone undone way too many years. After working a long day I just don't feel like working any more when I get home. Besides, with the two little ones I go to a lot of functions with them, it leaves little time where I "feel" like getting out in garage and diving into such a big project.
With my reveliation that if I haven't had the energy in the past 10 years to do it, how in the living hell am I going to have the energy in the NEXT 10 years?  So, over the past few weekends I got one of my projects all sanded and to the shop to paint it. This is one project I want to get done so I can move back to my truck which is FUN stuff, not this boring restoring stuff.  I took my little girl up the street in it and she really dug the convertible. As I was putting it up on the tow truck my wife was explaining to her about the top that it has other stuff. My daughter said to her, when daddy gets it painted can we go to the beach in it?  Brian Yeah, I look like a dork, let's get that out of the way.

Now that is a teaser shot. What color is it going back to? Red? I'd like to see some other pics of it. And if you decide you don't want to spend any more time finishing it, just send it my way.
I like the Buicks. I had a chance to get one early last year but it was a Hardtop. I passed on it because the wife wants an Olds. She's got her heart set on a '64 Cutlass. Keep us updated with pics.

This car was my driver for some time, because it was "just a car" for some reason I haven't taken many photos of it. I will over the coming weeks I am sure. My wife is the one who ran out to get a shot of it on the truck.
This was it at the shop today.  It is no big hot rod or anything, just a "cosmetic" restoration on a driver. It is all stock matching numbers motor. It does have headers and a ST400 (Buicks Turbo 400 which had a variable pitch torque converter) and 15x7 70ish GS wheels with the 65 Caps on them so they look original. It has some suspension mods for handling but other than that is pretty much stock. It is in red tint prime sanded and ready to shoot. The windshield post is painted and cleared in the color, Chrysler "Flame red". Brian

Brian,
It's way more than just a car. Any 60's or early 70's convertible would be an awesome car to cruise in! If I know you, that thing will even impress you when it's painted! Are you painting it yourself? Steve

You know what Steve, I have painted for many years, did it for a living. But it has been eight years since I painted a complete and I think I am going to pay our painter to shoot it.

Let's see, 2 days to slap the chrome back on, one day to do the interior, driving this thursday to the beach!
