Well winter project in planning (400 sbc) :D
Well today i got news from a coworker that one of his buddies has a sbc 400 laying around and wants to get rid of it, ive been reading quite a bit lately on many 400 builds and decided heck why not build one up this winter in my shed hehehe. Hopefully it's in good shape when i go down to see it, and if it is, then over to the machine shop to get cleaned up and checked out.
For the most part im gathering a parts list and im a little stumped on Cam/ heads/ and intake selection but im aiming for a modest 450-475 horse

as for SCR id like it around 10.5:1 as i dont mind using premium for weekend cruising/strip use.
Sorry for the length of this post but i want to get all my homework done before i start getting parts hehe. ( if all goes well, yes this will be going into the little Red S-10 lol how its gonna get in there well im pretty sure the continuous swearing and random cries for help give you an idea) lol

Had a setup like this in a 89 S-10 years ago.
Edelbrock RPM heads
Nitrous HP cam
Dual plane intake
700R Trans 2500stall
9" rear with 3:50gear.
With all the torque you'll be making a 3:42 gear is plenty.
The Edelbrock heads will net you 10.71compression. Fine on 93oct.
My truck went 11.5-11.6's on motor and mid 10's at 132mph on 150hp.
Good luck with the build. Don't get into bigger cam/head/stall/gear is better and you'll be just fine.
