What is this?

This is the driver's seats out of my 75 Camaro.What is this thing under it. There is a plug and it was wired up.

I am not sure but I think it makes your seat belt light come on when you sit down until you hook your belt.

That would make sense if it were the passenger seat. There is always someone in the driver's seat. Why would you need a sensor?

They used to put an ignition interlock on cars, starting in '74, that made it where you had to buckle the seat belt if someone was sitting in any one of the car's seats, or the car couldn't be started. That's likely part of that system.

Yup. Used on 1974 and 75 cars only. The general public got so pissed off that the feds actually repealed the law. One of the few times that's happened.
