ahhh
you could be both ways on this.
what makes a 350 a 350? the
bore X stroke right? So to be political correct a 350 is a 350 and a 355 is a 355
the power gains no are not hoorAAA its just bored out so the block could be reused. Really the power gain somehwere near nothing.
but I dont see a problem at all if someone says they got a 355 because that is what they have... a 355ci
nobody bores out a motor to gain power IMHO
not to be rude about this, but anybody who goes on and on about their motor being a 355 or says that it was "punched 30" more than in passing... is a douchebag.
K
badazz, amazingly, there are a ton of people who seem to think boring out an engine makes more power...substantually more. I even worked with a guy who was getting ready to pull the engine out...so he could have it bored out .LOL
I had a hell of a time telling him differant.

All those little things add up, the big boys engines are bored to the max. Besides my wife says bigger is always better. I have a 355 that runes better than when it was a 350. If someone wants to call there engine a 355 it doesn't bother me at all.
all the little things add up is true, but you never hear a guy sayin I have a 350 with an advance curve kit. or...a 350 with synthetic oil, those are all little things that add up to.
The main reason your 350 runs better now ,after being bored is because the cylinders were worn. If you were to take a new engine...say a brand new Chevy 350, dyno test it, pull it apart, bore it .030 over, put it back together with .030 over replacement pistons & rings, & retest it on the dyno, youd see a 3-5 HP increase. Not enough to feel in the car...& not worth the mention in my opinion.
the only time in my opinion that its worth mentioning is a situation were diplacement rules apply.
I mean if a guy wants to say his 350 is a 355, or 396 is a 402..thats fine.. whatever, just seems dorky to me, Ill have to point out that my tennis shoes have air insoles.
