The motor as it was produced at the factory, was fitted with the proper camshaft for the static compression ratio and the work that the motor was designed to do. Any other camshaft will not work better in your stock motor. It takes associated parts to make a hotter camshaft work, you cannot just stick a hot cam into a motor and expect better performance. You have to match the cam to the static compression ratio and the intended use of the motor, oftentimes you will have to also change the converter stall speed and the rear axle ratio to make it work right. My best advice.....reinstall a bone stock cam.
Have your machine shop technician measure the bores of the block to see if they need to be bored for larger pistons and rings.
