what coating for new carbs/manifold?

I am installing a brand new Offy tripower setup with rochester carbs etc. Everything is raw and uncoated out of the box with the sole exception of the carb bases which have already been coated with Eastwood grey.

Am I being paranoid in wanting to put some coating (maybe some type of clear?) on the units to prevent them deteriorating or should I leave them as-is?? I live in South Florida which is pretty humideven though they "shouldn't" see rain.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

You're bigger problem is going to be oxidation from the Salt air. If the carburetors are completely raw (no dye) you will have problems. As far as what to coat them with, it will depend on the "look" you want to have.

Thanks, they are going on an old school 29 highboy. I am guessing the 'priod' thing to do is to try to get as natural a look as possible hence my thoughts about a clear coat. Any recommendations for one?

If you want clear, you can have the parts clear powder coated.
