what converter to use and can flex plates be modified ?
engine:
yamahammer 3.2l v6 pt67 turbo custom intake for top end performance cams forged pistons 550+ hp might get a small shot of nitrous ... ok ... honestly will probably get a 75+ shot, because im a nutjob trans: th400 built for strip automatic valve body unless we upgrade chassis: 87 camaro w/ t tops sub frame connectors - probably 2x4 tubes along the insides of teh rockers and tied to the rails 6 point roll bar suspension: 12 bolt 456 gears 4 link rear suspension hoosier drag slicks (not radials) the engine is capable of reving to 9 grand in stock form, but its pointless because by them all power is gone in modded form, we will probably be shifting at 9k to keep it in its power band im about to start fabbing an adapter plate for this, and were about to buy a converter, just unsure of what to get also have to look into how to bolt the converter up, maybe we will get lucky and it will use the stock holes ... maybe .... but is there anything we can do to stiffen the bolt holes either way ? and oh yea, the goal is to be able to yank the front tires on the street |

re: what converter to use and can flex plates be modified ?
You need to get the adapter fabbed up , starter placement , flexplate that will fit ...... excitera ....
then the converter guys will need to know certain depths / lengths & crank shaft pilot hole size to build a converter that will fit the custom application. I doubt something off the shelf will fit at this point. interesting project

re: what converter to use and can flex plates be modified ?
flexplate and starter are both stock, starter is block side, so thats no prob
the yammaha bolt pattern is much smaller then the chevy pattern, so a stepped adapter flange will work well, and i have a number of places to brace it off the block so the only matter at hand is making the adapter so that the torque converter meets the flywheel properly and i already know that the stub on a converter will fit the pilot bushing hole on the crank unless something weird comes up, an off the shelf converter will work ... just have to know what stall to get |
