Yes, the '48-'52 were more modern, with no running boards, and fenders more blended into the body. They were also 6" wider, and 12" longer! The 1946 was a holdover from before WWII, and they used the same dies to stamp them that they used in 1940, so really an old design. My neighbor is a car nut, and he's got a 1948 Austin gasser. Kinda dwarfs mine when they're together!
