The way that I have done it, is to remove the pan and drill it and braze a 1/2" UNF nut that is shortened to about 4 threads to the inside. You can pick up the drain plug at Lowe's. I guess that you could braze the nut to the outside, if you desire. Just not enough treads in that stamped steel to suit me. Just look at the way an engine oil pan drain plug is set up.
