4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Procrastinated, with a cup of Joe, about replacing the valve cover gasket on my wife's 2003 VW, Golf-GTI 1.8T, till nine, finding, naturally, that after tearing it down the timing belt looked like hell because of a failed idler with 20,000 miles on it, that no one has. But I did locate a belt and the identical bearing matching the one that had failed, so whatever. After That! I simply alphabetically organised last year's RO's for filing, that sucked a bit more, ain't that nuts........... But hey. It was a sunny day, blue sky's highs in the 10s with some snow. So I blew some doughnuts in the field, to calm my nerves.

We got snow here last night dont think they did down in flat lands and valleys ,Im sure John & Carolina got it to how bout it ya'll snowed in ,still worked on my tyruck in dhop of course,

I wouldn't say we got snow it looked more like a heavy frost LOL We had maybe an inch that pretty much turned into ice before it melted this morning. The weather men/women should all be ashamed of themselves for making such a big deal out of such a pathetic storm.

Great looking work guys, sorry it has been a while since I have been on this thread. I haven't posted any pictures of my latest job, because the owner has me sworn to secrecy until its completed . Other than that everything is moving along nicely. The Camaro is partially blasted with the first coats of primer on most of the sheet metal and parts on order. The "secret" project is stripped down and ready to go on the rotisserie, and we have turned out 3 production jobs in the mean while and I plan to paint a 4th one tomorrow. It's been a little bit busy around here, but busy is good:thumbup:

cool. I had a '48 panhead with hydroglide forks years ago. I started out as a locked up EL and I bored and stroked it with a set of FL flywheels. Barb and I ride an '05 Ultra. Road to the west cost 4 years ago to celebrate retiring. We spent 23 days on the road and made some great memories.

You could also try to find a used can-am. Would be a lot more fun than a cruiser:mwink:
Unless you just want to cruise.. lol.
I've been looking into a gsxr600 or cbr600rr. I used to ride dirtbikes and quads but there's nowhere to ride around here anymore so a street bike is more usefull to me. Gotta wait til I sell my car though:smash:

I only rode for about a year of my life (street bikes) and I sure enjoyed it. I had an old Yamaha (one of those Triumph looking ones) that I picked up cheap and rode it around town a little then one day my buddy says he is heading off to the Reno Air races 400 miles away and if I wanted to go. So after having it only a few weeks and only about a mile of experience on the freeway we took off at 7:30 at night for Reno, got there about 1 am. What an amazing treasure that trip was. On the way back we were riding past Lake Tahoe in the redwoods and I could smell them and I remember thinking to myself "This is why people ride motorcycles". Yep, it really is fun. The next day after getting home I went out and bought a Kawasaki GPZ550. My whole thing with the safety though, that is where I had a problem. When I first met my wife we took a short trip and I couldn't do it again, I sold the bike at that point. I remember thinking I never want to see her hurt or her get a call that I had been. I just kinda freaked out I guess and sold it.

My first bike was 1941 indian i was 14 ,47 years ago, my Dad bought it he told me if i could get it running i could have it,replaced points with a set from a 6 cyl chevy straped a battery on service rack rode it to school in less than a week, never been without ine since ,nost of the time 3 or 4 ,i own 2 bikes and 4 ,4heeeler atvs now,my wife likes these as much as i do, but like you said i have lost several freinds in last two years none of the accidents were the bikers fault ,most were ran out of the road by cars & a couple trucks ,one was on a benefit charity ride with 670 bikes with a police escort,an eldery lady pulled out of a driveway about 60 bikes into the croud ,driver of bike paralyezed ,wife on rear deceased ,driver of car walked away. But cars wreck every day we still drive them,i guess im just hard headed, Riding thru the mountians ,the smell ,the sight ,the sound you will never experiance in a car even a convertible also i NEVER ride interstates only back roads ,Just my opinion.

I hear ya, sometimes the chance is worth it. I just fell in love with this lady and didn't want to get anywhere near the odds of seeing her hurt or me hurt. It's one of the reasons I sold her 65 Skylark that I had done for her, I got to thinking about it and got her into a late model car with all the safety stuff.
And believe me, I think about it often driving the Rambler, that car is just one small step above a motorcycle for safety. I drive it VERY defensibly just as I did on the bike. I am watching out for the other dude every second.

Safety is an important consideration no matter what you do. BUT....There is a certain amount of risk with most things. I know the bike is dangerous. At my age, more so. The roadster would be a real death trap if you were to turn it over too. I think everyone has to draw the line somewhere but it is a very personal decision that everyone has to make for them self. So far the Good Lord has taken care of us.

John, I have one almost in your neck of the woods. If you ever have a chance give hwy 23 in Arkansas. Arkansas Highway 23 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That is one of the most beautiful pieces of road I have ever been on and I have been all over America.

Brian
Cool, we will keep it in mind.

We also road the bike down through northern Ca. around Lake Tahoe, to Reno for a few days back in 2001. We were living in Vancouver Wa. at the time. There are some really beautiful places in this country. There are many in my back door.

My wife was raised on the mountain about 45 miles from Chattanooga. From the first time I came to meet her parents I could not wait to move here. Been here since 1969 except for the 3 years in Washington. Not leaving again if I can help it. :)

I use to have to WORK here when I was a paint rep. :D I wonder why I found my self doing so much business up in northern California and literally almost zero in the cities around the bay area? hmmm :D

No kidding, on my first trip up north for work I was on this road and remember saying out loud "I'm at work" and laughing. This below me nearer Monterey I think, I had an account in Monterey actually. But up north up to Arcada was as far as I went just a little ways from the Oregon state line. What beautiful country!
