Went to the spring opener cruise at Portland Tranny. Lots of fantastic rods there today with the great weather. Probably 700 cars all over the streets!

Yeah we got plenty of both!
June is the beginning of the weekly and weekend cruises, but weather's been so good that usually rained out May cruises are well attended! The Beaches Wed. night cruises in June bring out 1200 cars every Wed. if the weather is nice! $5 per car, (2 person max) and get to watch the Wed. night 1/8 mile drags free too!

Boy, I miss Beaches. When I lived in Vancouver they held it at the restaurant and barbequed in the parking lot. It was really a great run. It got so big they had to find another place. I did not dislike the move to PIR but I did miss the atmosphere of the location down by the river. Hard to believe that was almost 12 years ago.

Put new shoes on the front passenger side of my caddy. Think I am just going to order new wheel cylinders for both front drums. From rock auto the two will be about the price of one from any local place.

Hey! You know my feelings can be hurt.... Of course, you are going to have to try harder

I installed an adjustable vacuum pot, advance limiter disk and different springs on my chevy distributor in the flathead. Machining it is the easy part. Tuning it to the flathead is the time consuming part. I think I am about there.

I don't know if it will work with point type dist or not I will try to find installing instructions tomorrow, but I have a MSD adjustable timing retard /advance that controls from inside car while driving or idle ,it will retard or advance 12 degrees in either direction,i have to have it ,if I am on the road and have to buy Pump Gas ,I can put in a can of 104 and retard my timing so I can drive it home ,should work for what you need ,,I will get number off of it and let you know ..IT is on the Z28.

A MSD 8680 will work for you ,Summitt carries them ,I would check with Honest Charlies,, it does not have to have seprate modules like mine it has a automatic retard up to 10 for easier starting and 4 stages while driving for more power better mileage.if you are interested.

Since the flathead can only stand about 28 degrees of total advance I believe it would be hard to set up. Most aftermarket flathead distributors do not use vacuum advance but that tends to make them run hotter on the interstate. Also not good for mileage. HEI distributors will not clear the heads, not to mention being a little funky looking on a flathead.

That leaves a Pertronix module as a viable alternative but at this point I have not been inclined to use one. I have heard of a lot of people who were less than happy when their module died.

I really don't mind the points. This old girl ain't gonna float no points at 4500 RPM's

I never made any of the Beaches cruises when they were at the restaurant. I heard about them, but it was one of those always meant to go things. Last year I only missed one Wed. night, and none of them got rained out all season!
Unfortunately the one night I missed was the very last night in October, which conflicted with opening of deer season. My buddies said PIR was so packed that night that they stopped letting cars in, and only when somebody left would they allow another car in! I heard they had over 1600 cars that last night!

Gee - I dunno - any pastime that involves shooting and dribbling sounds a bit too much "adult oriented" for someone of my tender years.....
