John apparently I married your wife's twin sister (at times the evil one). What I get is a very well thought out "I don't know" or a snappy "Nothing" Then it's followed by a cheery "I hate Christmas" which just sucks the fun out of December.

I just wish I could make it personal, something she really wanted. Every once in a while I am able to, last year it was a cabinet with counter next the stove. That was a big hit. But this year, I haven't a clue.

I would say if she doesn't want a TIQ welder like the rest of our wives you need to get her a gift card for a large amount. How could you go wrong with Harbor Freight or Lazze's Metal Shaping, or Woodard Fabrication. You know, any of those girley places........John

OK ,You guys do know they're just baiting you right????? they want you to get them exactly what they want without telling you anything and acting like they dont care when it means the whole world to them and to know that you know her so well they dont even have to tell you, thats what they really want...something that lets her know you know shes a women and your in tune to her feelings ....so a weekend at the spa, complete with a pedicure, manicure ,facial, mud bath the works really pamper her up and all by herself for the whole weekend....the best part is you'll have a whole weekend by yourself too to do whatever YOU want... I know I'm frugal but that sounds like buy one get one free to me.....not to mention her whole new attitude when she gets home....win,win,win

Mine would never do that, I gave her a massage coupon once and she never used it! She is a tough one, she is so frugal it kills her to spend money on herself or do anything for herself.

Brian - are you 100% sure that we are not married to identcial twin sisters?

I, too, have given my wife gift certificates for hair salons, for spa treatments etc in the past and she has never used any of them!

My wife, too, is so frugal it is sometimes annoying, especially when it comes to getting something nice for herself.

Choosing Christmas gifts for her is beyond my imagination (not to mention birthdays and anniversaries, and she actually gets annoyed with me if I spend anything for Valentines day!)

Dave your the one who has it easy! You live in Canada! We envy you! All you have to do is get your wife a three month coupon to Tim Hortons for coffee, a
large sack of Timbits and a new snow shovel! Bingo! Your all done.

I once saw a Simpsons where Homer got Marge a bowling ball for Christmas with "Homer" engraved in it. Could have swore my wife was saying she wants a planishing hammer for Christmas.

As for the day, I was the only guy at work today. Worked on the Impala. One thing that pissed me off. This very dishonest guy is like the boss' lapdog. He's a compulsive liar and it's to the point where I don't even want to hear the guy talk anymore. So I'm looking for a piece of scrap metal and this idiot walks back there right where I'm at and then acts like he's looking at something else, and I'm just thinking, "you have some fricken nerves to come back here and spy on me like I'm stealing or slacking off when you have no fricken teeth and a criminal record." If anyone needs an eye kept on them it's HIM! I'm the hardest worker there. What an insult.

Today, I filled a hole in some 18-20 gauge sheet metal using tacks. The hole was about 1/4 inch by 3/8 inch to start. Took about 20 tacks. The first tack hung on to my copper backer, so I left it in place for the duration. The last two photos show the back side of the tacks.

Here's a link to a slide show of the progression.
