Well I got out to the garage for the first time since before my son broke his hip. He is doing well and dad needed some "therapy" working on the Gran Sport. I cleaned up all the top iron pieces with Super Clean and hot water and dish soap in the driveway. They are in the garage drying off and are ready for sand blasting and primer/paint.

I spent the day reassembling the engine on my Austin gasser. Yep, it broke already!
Started running on 7 cyl. last week and after a compression check showed zero compression on #2. I pulled the valve cover to find a missing pushrod! Pulled the intake and there was the broken pushrod, and a lifter that had spit it's guts out. Anyway, got a new lifter from Summit, along with a new set of hardened pushrods and installed it all today. Then did a real bonehead rookie mistake and stabbed the distributor out 180 degrees. When it backfired it blew so hard it took the back of the muffler out, and brought everyone to the garage from as far as two blocks away! ![]() After assuring everyone they didn't need the bomb squad I restabbed the dist. and got it running. All is well now, and in time for the get together with Ed Iskenderian Monday the 16th! Hope to get him to sign the dash of my gasser! |

No Matt, the Cirque will be there until June I believe, and it will happen every other year for the next ten years! They took over 700 stalls on the east side parking lot, so Expo is smaller by about 25%. PIR Racetrack is bigger than before, and I'd guess some people moved over there.
The greed at Expo administration is rampant, and they literally leased the parking lot right out from under the Early Ford Club that has traditionally ued the space for over 30 yrs. They also screwed Cirque, as they have matinees today thru Sunday, and no parking for whoever comes, so I'm sure they're not happy either. Seems all that the City of Portland Expo admin. cares about is the almighty dollar, and not any of their renters. |
