what to do to change a 6 bolt lug to a 5 bolt lug pattern?(chevy)

So i am not 100% if this is a rear end question or not, anyways, i have a 6 bolt lug pattern and i want to change it to a 5 bolt chevy lug pattern (5x4.75) my front end has that bolt pattern so i want to change the rear, i would like to use the existing housing and everything, do i just change the axels? or just the rotor with the correct bolt pattern? oh yeah i want to change it to disc brakes instead of the old drums.

Some Axles are longer so you need to be sure which Rear you have. Also Axles & Drums can be redrilled for 5-lug pattern.
May find the Axle swap Info here>> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=157669 I know the Disc Brake Info is there.

chevy discs

There are kits for converting to front discs that include a new caliper bracket and later car rotors. depending on the year of what vehicle . on some of the 50's pickups and cars, later year car 5 bolt rear axles and brakes were a bolt on.

sorry there i didn't put much detail, i ment to say that it is a 10 bolt rear end, and it is a 1956 chevy pick up. i just want to have rear disc brakes as well as fronts, and i already have an IFS that has the bolt pattern that i want, i just want the rear wheels to match.

chevy truck brakes

I sold My 56 Cameo over 30 years ago. but I think car axles from the same year cars fit right in ... I think the 80's cad eldorado with rear disc brakes are the easy swap. I have a couple of the Eldo rear discs parts in boxes for future projects. The eldos have the 4.75 bolt patern It seems like some of the chevy axles need a little grinding to the axle pilot area so the center hole in the rotor will fit. The eldo rears have the built in emergency brakes. . there should be info on the classic chevy truck sites in more detail. I don.t know if you have to redrill the eldo caliper brackets to fit or not.
