what do I do in this situation??

Here is the back story:

I had booked vacation time well in advance, and booked my trip. About a week and a half before I am set to go, there is a schedualing conflict with the trip and transportation. The departure date is moved two days earlier, and will require me to have one additional day that I did not book off to make the trip. The trip has been paid for, and is past the minimum cancellation/rebooking period. I asked my employer for the one additional day, even going so far as to find a replacement for the hours (my third year apprentice). The boss came down and said that this puts them into overtime, I will not authorize that. I found a way that would work that would not cost OT, and still am getting the " I played by the rules, you booked from XX date to XX date". If I do not leave on the date required, I will forefit the cost of the travel, and the cost of the trip. I cannot afford to ust lose that amount of money, and am at a loss on how to proceed with my employer. I leave in 6 days, and if I cannot get this resolved, I don't quite know what to do. Anyone been in this situation or have any advice?

Thanks..

who changed the departure date ?? the transportation company ??, this a deal breaker and you should call them and explain that your employer will not allow you that extra time off and since they changed the departure date it should nullify the contract between you and them as you applied for the time off they had scheduled as the date not the ammended one .

I agree with Stimpy, if the change came from the transportation company it's their dime.
