i dont know what to do the last 3 days my boss has worked us from 6.00 to 6.30 and 7.00 with out a brake i know hes been stressing about just taking over the bussines but 12+ hours is a long time to work some one with out food?? im only 18 and havent had to many jobs so i dont realy no what to do. do i hope that tomorow being a new week he will hav wound down . if he dosent do i quit and get a new job?? also i hadent had a shave for a couple of days and he tuned me for being to scruffy,who fells like shaving ive been eating tea having a shower and going straight to bed because in burnt out

After spending 3 years with a similar type of employer and busting my butt working for him with no satisfaction (he refused to sign off my hours for my apprenticeship after 3 years) I only have one thing to say.

You can't change him, find alternative employment before he ruins you as an employee. Don't waste another minute waiting for change, it will never happen...start looking now.

i would find something-else.
when you get a day of look for another job. tell them you can start in a week or two, and give your boss a week or two notice.

very few jobs are fun, but that doesnt mean you have to suffer either. just be responsible about it, and you should have no problems.

Shoot, I don't even work my folks that hard on the ship, and I give them 3 squares a day. They work 12 on 12 off, but then again I do have a captive audience.
There are better alternatives to working 12 hours straight with no breaks and no nourishment. An employer that takes care of the people gets more out of them and a much better product in the end. Time to find another place to work.

ok i might start ringing around ive got a few numbers of people in similar jobs i fell bad leaving him but he has also stoped paying us travel and cut my wage by a $1 an hour. thanks for the advice Clinton Carnell

Definately dump him!! He's trying to save a buck on wages, but is he putting that money back into the business or sucking it dry? I work the occassional 12 hour shift, but my boss is adament about making sure I take my breaks. IMO he doesn't deserve two weeks notice, but you have to follow the accepted practice or it doesn't look good to new or prospective employers. Don't feel bad about leaving his employee either, you have to look out for YOU because no one else will.

i think hes puting the money into the other crews tools but the crew im in doese not get much spent on us. all i know is its hard building roads on an empty stomach

Yep. That's it!!! Just up and quit!!! First off, why not ask him about a lunch or a break. After all it is the law. Explain to him that there needs to be a lunch period in there somewhere. Where do you work? I just can't imagine a boss working someone 12 hours without any breaks at all. Is he doing this to everyone or just you?

I (as all state employees) have to take a yearly class on "Workplace Violence". <--- THAT PISSES ME OFF TOO.
if it wasn't for my boss crapping on us, I would feel NO NEED to get violent....
wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to make supervisors go to a "HOW NOT TO BE A DI(K AND CAUSE SOME DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE TO WHIP YOUR ****" classes?

nargh he works every onewithout a break i asked him today at 2.00 and he said spray first eat later so i waited to 4.00 when we had finished spraying and he said too late now. i could smaked my shovel over his head!! i work for a local firm that to brothers own and its just split up . we lay ashphel bitumen concreat and do earth works i like the work its just the boss(anny oneout there in a similar job?)
