on my car where the rubber 1/2 wide moldings that ran down the sides about half way up on the doors and short pieces on the quarter pannels, and under the vynal top it had on it before. there is these rust pits, i dont know what to do with them, i tried a wire wheel and it doesnt seem to do anything. in the pits they are black. what do you guys think would be the best way before i shoot my epoxy primer overtop?

spot sandblasting should do the trick

dont have a sand blaster and i dont want to buy one, to messy. any other ideas?

Use Naval Jelly, then wire wheel on a drill over and over until all the rust is gone from deep down in the pits. It could many iterations, be patient.

Then, poke a scratch awl into the pitted areas to make sure there are no pin holes. If there are, weld them up with a mig welder and grind smooth.

Next, sand the area with 80 grit and cover everything with 2 coats of epoxy primer.
