Guys, we had solved the Pancaked and sectioned, so I asked what was it called on the La Jolla?

Now you messed it all up and we have to discuss "Sectioned". In customizing it is commonly where something is cut and the profile lowered just as on pancaking the hood. It is not making something shorter or longer. This is clearly explained in the three glossary's Randy posted.

The funny thing is, all three of those links Randy are exactly the same. So they aren't three different "sources" because they are exactly the same two of them at the very least simply copied the first one. Or all three copied someone else!

But I agree, pancaking is what it is called.

When you section the side of a car.. Say 6''... The side on the car does get shorter... It doesn't get taller for sure... So I can you say it doesn't get shorter ??

And as far as pancaking a hood.. Your only lowwering the front of the hood... Not the back too..

I can't believe you lived on the west coast with some of the best kustom builders and never heard of pancaking...

I'm sure if you walked into george barris, Big Daddy Roth, And gene winfield's shop and asked them,, They would sure let you know....
I really don't think they will say..LET'S SEE !!! It's called this on the east coast. It's called this on the west coast,, And I don't know what the h*** they call it on the south coast !!!!

It's all a matter of semantics, that isn't "shortening", you are right that if it were a person they would be getting "shorter" if you sectioned a foot out of the middle. But for some reason sectioning something like a building or car or something that shape isn't called "shortening". But to "shorten" a car would be this.



The glossery's posted state "Sectioning": Removing a horizontal section of bodywork to lower the overall height of the body.

But again, this is all crap and you say tomato and I say, well, tomato.
