Post What do you guys think of this for a project?

My grandfather has a 1983 Ford F-250 XLT manual, long bed, normal cab, and it has a later 80's 460 engine. He currently use's it on his farm, but now that he is getting older, mid 60's,and slowly quitting farming he uses it less and less.He knows how much I love the truck and I was planning on buying it off him whenever I possibly could. And I was planning on doing some work to it when I aquire it.But there is not to much I could do to it

Its in great running condition, the body has several rust spots and the interior needs a decent amount of work, dash board, door panals and carpet are worn and crappy looking. So all I could really do is fix the body and interior, then probably some tweaking with the engine, maybe get it a new carb.It has a holly 4 bbl on it now,not sure what kind exactly.

So what do you guys think, should I put around 5 grand or so in it?I'm gonna get it of him regardles but I just couldnt decide on if I should make it a project or not.

Sounds like a good sleeper to me. Room for 3 ta 4, plenty room for big tires and a huge 460 to start with. Theres a lot of parts for the newer motors to. Nitrous, blowers, chips, headers, ect... I say go for it!. HG

It is a good sleeper, you should have seen the look on the faces of the guys in the firebird when we blew there doors off.At about 100mph (estimated since the speedometer only goes to 85) it dosent even sound like its getting close to redline.I'm not sure of the gears it has right now but its made for pulling,so I'd put in a new set of gears.

Thanks.
The Caddy is donating the 500ci engine thats going to be rebuilt and stuffed in the Gremlin. Crshrmn3 is getting the Body for his 4X4 Caddy build.
Your only about 45 minutes from me then, cause I can get to Courthouse in about 20-30 minutes. HG
