What do you think of this 383 sbc combo?

4.030 x 3.75
5.7 lunati rods
lightweight trw flat tops
.040 quench
67 cc Canfield heads
approx flow:
250 @ .400
260@500
260@600
250@700
cam solid flat tappet
256 / 270 @ .050
.545 / .578 lift
112 lobe sep
10.6 : 1 comp
Victor Jr
800 dbl pumper
300hp Top Gun plate

Th400 w/ brake
3700 converter

built 12 bolt with either 4.10s or 4.56s
28 or 29x10 slicks
3200 lb 72 Nova

I want to be able to run on pump gas on the motor with a separate fuel system for the spray. My goal is to run as fast as I can on the bottle, and everything else can is not so important.

Good luck with that pump gas thang. Compression may be a little high for that. Do you have 91 or 93 octane?

93 octane in Dallas near sea level. I had the shortblock together before with the same duration cam with only 500 / 515 lift. and 72cc iron Sportsman heads. I put several bottles through it without ever using race gas. I think that part'll be fine.

.545 / .578 lift?

These with 1.5. Use a rocker with more ratio so you can lower the cam duration. It won't be as hard on valves and live longer between refreshes.

Explain how more ratio is easier on parts.
